Achieving Insurtech Success: How I Helped Munich Re Pivot and Establish Leadership in the Field

As the Marketing Communications Manager and subsequently Acting Marketing Director for Munich Re’s insurtech division, I spearheaded a number of initiatives that helped the company thrive in a challenging market.

The Company: Munich Re is a leading insurance company that offers a range of products and services to clients worldwide. Its insurtech division provides innovative solutions to meet the needs of modern insurance customers.

The problem: When I joined Munich Re, the insurtech industry was in a state of flux. On-premises tech solutions were facing an overhaul towards the cloud, and the Covid crisis was causing economic uncertainty. Munich Re needed to pivot quickly to stay ahead of the curve and maintain growth.

The Solution: I developed and rolled out a fully-fledged internal and external communications strategy that helped the company build digital bridges with prospects and customers globally. I established a content marketing engine that would see us release key evergreen content that could yield traffic, leads and press, and be repurposed to sustain its impact. I managed the delivery and dissemination of the AAU Whitepaper, the most downloaded, shared and impactful content MunichRe has distributed to date.

I managed the placement of 150 global press releases annually, securing major publications such as Forbes. I also introduced a key growth initiative, overseeing a full rebrand of the product suite and managing the digital dissemination of each asset to establish Munich Re as a global leader in cloud-based insurtech solutions.

Results & benefits: The resulting pivot resulted in a 43% uplift in monthly recurring revenue, and successfully proved the business case for a cloud business model with the company. The white-paper I oversaw achieved over 500 downloads globally, establishing Munich Re as the leading authority in insurtech and providing the cornerstone for countless webinars, graphics, blogs, and interviews.
